Fellowships for Early Career Psychiatrists


Fellowships to be announced Mid November

The World Psychiatric Association's Thematic Congress (WPATC) Innovation in Psychiatry: Effective Interventions for Health and Society provides an ideal forum for early career professionals to further their professional knowledge and share their research with global leaders in Psychiatry.

As part of a shared goal to foster learning and development of early career psychiatrists, WPA and RANZCP are delighted to offer twelve fellowships to eligible professionals.

1. WPA Fellowship (six available)                 WPA logo.jpg

Available to global applicants

  • Travel grant of up to $1000 AUD per person (Economy Class Only)
  • Three (3) nights of accommodation up to $100 AUD per night  
  • Registration fees for the Congress will be waived

2. RANZCP Fellowship (six available)                      RANZCP logo.jpg

Available only to applicants from the Asia-Pacific region (excluding Australia and New Zealand)           

  • Travel grant of up to $900 AUD per person
  • Three (3) nights of accommodation up to $150 AUD per night 
  • Registration fees for the Congress will be waived

Application Criteria:

  • Applicants must be qualified as psychiatrists or trainees in psychiatry
  • Applicants must have no more than 5 years of post qualification professional experience
  • Applicants must be the presenting author of an accepted abstract for oral or poster presentation
How to Apply:

To apply for the Fellowships please send an email to the Congress Secretariat that includes the following:

  • Applicant's full name 
  • Applicant's abstract number
  • Applicant's country of residence 
  • An attached letter of recommendation from the head of the department; which should confirm that the applicant is a psychiatrist or a trainee in psychiatry and that they have no more than 5 years professional experience.

Confirmed winners will be notified of their success via e-mail.

Please note: grants will be given as a reimbursement after the Congress, subject to participation at the Congress.
